Customised Perching Steadiness on a show cage perch can make the difference winning and losing when the next budgerigar show seasons comes around. in tom's bird room youngsters get plenty of opportunity to try out a range of show cage perches which are set at the correct distance apart and positioned high on the nursery flight wall. Most youngsters prefer these high perches to the conventional ones that are provided. the perches have a galvanised steel backing, which has been formed to represent the exact slope of the roof of a standard Budgerigar society show cage. the slightly shinny metal surface gets youngsters used to seeing their own reflection above then and eliminates the problem of "head swiveling" displayed by some nervous birds when first introduced to a show cage. Tom professes to being lazy when it comes to show training and since introducing this perching arrangement has not found it to be necessary. | HOME PAGE | MAIN CONTENTS PAGE | UPDATE PAGE | |
